Every Child Matters

As we acknowledge and grieve the lives of the 215 children of the Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc, there are no words that reflect the experiences and injustice endured by the children who were part of the Indian Residential School System in Canada. With the most recent news of the remains of 215 children found in the unmarked grave site located at the former Kamloops Indian Residential School, it is difficult to comprehend this tragic loss. Our hearts are with the survivors and the families impacted for the lives lost of the many children who did not survive and never made their way back home. We express our sincere compassion and condolences to those who are left to carry the heavy burden of intergenerational trauma. In respect, the flags at CKP were lowered to half-mast on May 30th at 9 am and will remain so for 215 hours – June 8th at 8 am At this time, we ask everyone to take a moment of silence to honour each child and reflect on each of our journeys toward reconciliation. e v e r y c h i l d m a t t e r s
