Honouring Excellence and Spirit: The 2025 Sarah Kelly Memorial Bursary Recipient - Erik Elliott

At Canadian Kraft Paper Indsutries Limited (CKPI) , we believe in recognizing young individuals who exemplify leadership, kindness, and a commitment to both academics and community—values that reflect the heart of our organization and our town. One of the most meaningful ways we do this is through the Sarah Kelly Memorial Bursary, established in 1994 to honour the memory of a bright and beloved young woman whose parents were long-standing and dedicated employees of our papermill and sawmill.

Sarah Kelly was a student at Opasquia Middle School who left a lasting impression on those around her. She was known not only for her academic excellence, but also for her spirited involvement in school life and her selfless contributions to the broader community. Her legacy lives on in the bursary that bears her name, which supports graduating students who demonstrate these same values.

The bursary is awarded annually to a student pursuing post-secondary studies in fields that reflect CKP’s core commitments: forestry, trades, sciences, or business and help propel our industry and communities into the future.

This year, we are proud to present the 2025 Sarah Kelly Memorial Bursary to Erik Elliott.

Erik has been accepted into the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Saskatchewan and will begin his studies this fall. Throughout high school, Erik balanced a demanding academic schedule, earning a remarkable 92% average with part-time work and extensive extracurricular involvement. From athletics and band to serving on the Trappers Festival Youth Board, Erik has shown outstanding dedication and energy. His teachers describe him as hardworking, kind, adaptable, respectful, and always willing to lend a helping hand.

At CKPI, we are inspired by students like Erik, young leaders who carry with them the spirit of community, service, and perseverance.

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Erik Elliott and wish him continued success as he takes the next steps in his academic and professional journey.
